The election of 1860, four candidates, completely different people, however what if there were only two candidates? John Breckenridge and Abraham Lincoln. Would that change the outcome of this historical event? Well, I believe it would but not by much. You see, Abraham Lincoln was against slavery so most people in the North would vote for him and John Breckenridge was all for slavery so people in the South would vote for him. Not so different from what actually happened in history, however what about the people in between? What about the people who voted for Stephen Douglas or John Bell? Well, I believe then those people would HAVE to pick a side then, slavery or freedom. So it really depends on how many of those people that are not sure, pick one or the other. However, it wouldn't be much different than what actually happened because I believe that Abraham Lincoln would still win because there are more people in the North, he just would have more votes than originally because of the people, that weren't sure, that chose freedom.
